OFSTED At Elmgreen

Hi there,

Were you aware that OFSTED inspectors visited The Elmgreen School last Wednesday and Thursday? Elmgreen parents and carers responded enthusiastically to the news, completing OFSTED’s online questionnaire and writing (at the last count) 53 personal letters to the inspectors giving their impressions of the school.

The report is expected in the next 10 days or so and we hope to be able to share the outcome of the inspection with you at our celebration marking 10 years since the PPF/Elmgreen journey began. It’s on Saturday 30th November 10.30-12.30pm.
Please do come along – details are attached.

The 10 years celebration will be held jointly with the Elmgreen School Parents Council and will reflect on all that’s been achieved in the past 10 years, working together to establish a fantastic new secondary school for all local children. It will also help us plan for the future success of Elmgreen students. Everyone’s invited – do come along and get to know other local parents and carers better.

We’re especially keen to encourage parent/carers with younger children in years 7 and 8, or even at primary school and parents/carers of black or minority ethnic origin in order to help ensure that we truly reflect our local community.

The 10 year celebration will also include our 8th Annual General Meeting when PPF members can vote to appoint one of the PPF Foundation Governors and the new PPF Directors.  If you’d be interested in standing for one of these posts do get in touch or simply complete and return the attached form – it’s a great way to feel more involved and to help make a real difference to your local community. If you’d more information about what the role involves, do call our project manager on 0208 678 9181.

No experience is necessary. We particularly welcome interest from parents/carers of younger children/children of black or minority ethnic origin in order to help ensure that the Foundation governors and directors are truly representative. Nominations need to be returned by 6pm on Sunday 24th November.

As it’s our 10th anniversary party, there’ll be also delicious home-made cakes and real coffee & tea on sale to raise funds for the Lambeth Food Bank as it prepares to support local families in the run-up to Christmas so it should be a lovely way to spend part of your Saturday morning. And if you can bring along a donation for the Food Bank – see attached list, it’d be even better1

Hope to see you there!
