The PPF initially campaigned hard to establish the need for a school, to raise the funds to pay for it and to establish a school which was true to their vision.

They formed the PPF as a registered charity to serve as the school’s Foundation body – to hold the land and buildings and to appoint local parents and carers as the school’s “PPF Foundation governors”

They then set up the school’s twenty-strong Governing Body (The five PPF Foundation governors sit alongside seven parent governors to create a permanent majority of parents on the Governing body). The Governing body then recruited the Headteacher and initial staff team.

The PPF were involved in the setting up of the school – from working alongside the staff and governors on detailed designs for the school building, the uniform, the curriculum design, feeding into the strong pastoral care structure and promoting the school to prospective students and their families.

The PPF continues to play an essential role as the school’s conceptual founders, working on the strategy and direction of the school through the PPF Foundation governors but also in organising its own events and initiatives and supporting staff to make Elmgreen a truly parent-friendly school.
